Laborer – Fabrication and Finishing

Permanent position · Day shift · 40 h/week · $18 to $28/h · Sherbrooke

Savage Trailers is looking for a fabrication and finishing laborer to join its production team in Sherbrooke.

This versatile position is intended for a hands-on, reliable and resourceful person who enjoys contributing concretely to the fabrication of a quality product. The successful candidate will contribute to various stages of the production of our aluminum trailers, from the preparation and fabrication of parts to their installation and the finishing of the units.

The work also includes various responsibilities related to receiving goods, material handling and general shop operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the materials, parts and components needed for production
  • Participate and collaborate in the fabrication of parts and components for the trailers
  • Carry out various assembly, adjustment, drilling, preparation and installation work
  • Install various parts, components and accessories on the trailers
  • Carry out finishing work to ensure the visual and functional quality of the units produced
  • Check the quality of the work performed and report any anomaly or non-conformity
  • Receive goods and participate in their verification, handling and storage
  • Move trailers, materials and goods using forklifts and appropriate equipment
  • Perform various manual tasks required for the smooth operation of the shop
  • Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe
  • Collaborate with the welder-assemblers and other members of the production team
  • Perform any other related task tied to the needs of production and the shop

Requirements

  • Completed high school diploma (DES) or equivalent training
  • Good ability to communicate in French
  • Ability to perform manual work and use various shop tools
  • Diligence and punctuality
  • Consistency and reliability in carrying out the work
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with other team members
  • Compliance with work methods and health and safety rules

Assets

  • Basic training or knowledge in welding
  • Experience working with aluminum
  • Experience in a manufacturing, mechanical or fabrication environment
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Knowledge of various electric, pneumatic and hand tools used in a shop

Working conditions

  • Permanent full-time position
  • 40 hours per week
